A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and friend to many passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016. He was 79 and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was born in White Castle on December 2, 1936 to Alexander and Laura Percle Barbier. He served his country proudly as U.S. Marine at the end of the Korean War. Richard retired from Chevron Chemical St. James as a Shift Supervisor. He was an avid lifelong fisherman and loved cooking for his family and community. Richard had a giving heart and it showed when he would do woodworking projects for friends and family. He was very active in the Church, White Castle Volunteer Fire Department, and Community. The time he spent with family and his grandchildren was his most cherished. He is survived by his adoring wife of 57 years, Margie Thibodaux Barbier; daughter, Evette Ann Barbier; son, Carl Alex Barbier and his wife, Donna; three grandchildren, Richard Carl Barbier II, Tyler Michael Barbier, and Ami Elizabeth Barbier; and two step grandchildren, Kay Lyn and John Allen Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion Barbier Casso; and brothers, Allison Joseph, John, Gerald and Stanford Barbier. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Ourso Funeral Home, White Castle at 11:00 am.
